AFP National Police Check (NPC) checklist:
- Verify that you have the necessary tools and resources for the online National Police Check application process:
- A valid credit/debit card for payment – cost $42.00 per person for a National Police Check.

- An email address for confirmation of submission and communication
- The ability to scan documents into .JPG .PDF or .TIF formats, with each file being no more than 4 megabytes in size.
- Prepare and scan the necessary identification documents according to the required format and file size. Use the 100 point checklist provided below to ensure all necessary documents are included.
- Complete the application form, leaving blank any sections that do not apply. Do not type “NA”, “None”, or “Not Applicable” in these sections.
- You MUST select Code 33 – Immigration/Citizenship – for Supply to the Department of Home Affairs which includes all Commonwealth offences, and other state/territory offences as legislation permits.
- You must include details of all names you have been known by.
- Carefully review and validate the information entered on the application form before submitting.
- Proceed to payment, be careful not to select the payment button more than once to avoid multiple payments.
- You will receive a copy of the receipt for the payment made – keep it.
- National Police Certificates issued by the Australian Federal Police are available as either a digital certificate or a hard copy certificate. Digital certificates are sent via email as secure PDF files, and hard copy certificates are mailed to the applicant. During the application process, the applicant can choose which type of certificate they prefer.
